What signs do I need, and which are the most important?

Signs serve many purposes in the average building. Some signs identify the building and main entry, others direct visitors through the lobby to elevators and services, while still others, like Missing Persons kiosks or notice boards, educate and inform passers-by.

Click on the sign types at the right to see common groupings of signs found throughout a typical building. Each section provides an overview of these sign types and groupings. They will help you identify potential signage upgrades and how such upgrades could be phased in.

These graphics standards will also help you make important decisions about typefaces, colors, messages, and other important considerations.
